[BCMA] Vintage Craft Workshops at Craigdarroch Castle

Victoria, British Columbia, Canada -  Craigdarroch Castle Historical Museum is pleased to announce a series of Vintage Craft Workshops beginning on January 7th 2012.  Ranging from traditional Victorian crafts such as embroidered sachets and lace tatting to ancient forms such as Venetian bookbinding and heirloom button making, the series will focus on rare, unusual and dying art forms.
Guest instructors include local artisans, authors and experts who will share their knowledge during these one day workshops.   Advance registration and payment is required and signing up early is recommended as space is limited.
"Craigdarroch Castle's mission as a historical house museum is to bring the history of Victoria and the Castle alive and this craft series will highlight some of the arts and activities popular during the Dunmuir era," explains Elisabeth Hazell, Craigdarroch Castle's Manager of Operations and Development.  "We are very excited to be expanding our educational offerings throughout the year and we believe that this series will be beneficial in carrying forth our mission. Cultural heritage in the form of arts and crafts is something that can be experienced live, through learning a traditional skill.  Rather than simply admiring the handiwork of past artists and artisans, learning one of these crafts keeps such traditions alive."
