Crowds Turn Out for Museum's Public Input Session

Over six hundred people showed up at the Maritime Museum of British Columbia's open house this past weekend to provide input and support. The museum is proposing a move to the waterfront and is a contender for the old CPR Terminal building on Belleville Street.
"We didn't know what to expect" said Jamie Webb, chair of the team submitting a proposal to the Provincial Capital Commission. "We would have been happy with one or two hundred people. Public input is vital before we put the finishing touches on the museum's submission and we were just bowled over by the number of people that showed up."
Suggestions for the new museum included a strong First Nations component, activities for children, interactive displays and an expanded research facility to house the museum's world-class library and archives.
