The Mad Hatter: Through the Looking Glass is a result of a collaborative
partnership between the Arts Council of the Central Okanagan and The
University of British Columbia, Okanagan Campus, Faculty of Creative and
Critical Studies, professor Byron Johnson. This extraordinary event was made
possible with the help of Witmar Holdings Ltd., which kindly donated the old
Ponderosa Motel property for this unique project.

This major art event is curated by renowned local artist and UBC professor
Byron Johnson. Featuring first, second, third and fourth year sculpture
students from UBC Okanagan campus who have transformed the old motel into a
distinctive installation art experience. Installation art is a genre that
incorporates any media, including the physical features of the site, to
create a conceptual experience for the viewer. "This is a great opportunity
for students graduating with a bachelor fine arts degree from UBC Okanagan
campus to be exposed to the art world outside the institution." says Byron
Johnston.

will be captivated. Mad Hatter: Through the Looking Glass will hold its
opening fundraiser on March 4, 2011 from 6:30-9:30pm. The fundraiser is in
