Dear Coleen and Marilyn,
Thank you for your postings to the listserv about CRMP course offerings!
We appreciate the challenges presented by the costs of travelling and staying in Victoria for our intensive courses. I wish B.C. had more funding opportunities to support professionals, board members and key volunteers to undertake training and professional development, such as the excellent programs supported in Alberta by Museums Alberta and the province. BCMA has very limited resources to support training (although the amazing Joe Nagel and Barry Hardcastle bursaries have made a big difference for those they have been able to support) I wish they had more, as well get contacted all the time by individuals with great interest and dedication, but limited resources.
As well, we do from time to time work with partner organizations to offer courses in different regions. For example, we have offered courses in the Yukon, Northwest territories, and in other regions in the past. If there are enough interested participants from a region whose registration would cover the costs of offering the course, or if there's a partner organization that can help cover the costs if there in an insufficient number of participants (ie. a community foundation or trust, sponsor, etc.), we can work with you to offer something in your area. There may even be funding opportunities to support working with us to offer a course with you under capacity-building types of grants that may be available.
And finally, we do have several courses available online to make them more accessible and cost-effective for some participants to take them. We are always looking for interest in developing new courses in this format as well, so let us know if you're interested in this.
Please be in touch with me if you'd like to discuss further!
Best wishes,
Brenda

Hi Trisha,
Re: Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria
The Cultural Resource Management Program at the University of Victoria
is there any possiblity that some of these courses could be offered
off island - say somewhere in the interior of BC. These are the kinds
of courses that small museums need but we can't afford the expensive
trips to the Island.
Thanks for listening,
