Kelowna Art Gallery offers affordable art classes to stimulate creativity

 

January 6, 2010 - Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Art Gallery is offering local creative types the chance to nurture their inner artists this winter. Winter art classes at the Gallery are set to start in a few weeks, and registration is currently underway. Beginning January 27, reasonably-priced art classes will be offered in watercolour, acrylics, and drawing, all instructed by talented local professionals. One weekend workshop will be offered on January 15, 2010. This session will wrap up March 7, 2011. 

 

Taking into account various levels of ability, classes will be offered for absolute beginners as well as for those of intermediate skill. Beginner classes will teach students the basic principles of their preferred medium, while also giving them the opportunity to discuss, explore, and express themselves through visual art. More advanced students will build on their existing skills through creative exercises to enhance their abilities. Instruction by the Gallery's art teachers is supportive, motivating, and inspiring. 

 

"Winter is the ideal time to brush up on your skills or finally tap into that creative energy bursting to find its way through your fingertips", says Renée Burgess, Head of Public Programming at the Kelowna Art Gallery. "Taking a class at the Gallery is perfect for those who made New Year's Resolutions to 'do something creative' in 2011." 

 

Art classes are just one of the many facets of the very active Public Programming Department at the Kelowna Art Gallery. Winter, spring and fall art class sessions are offered, with a variety of programs and activities for people of all ages available year-round.
