Call for Nominations: 2011 Fraser River Hall of Fame

 

New Westminster - Nominations are now being sought for the 2011 inductee
into the prestigious Fraser River Hall of Fame. Each year, the Fraser River
Discovery Centre Society recognizes significant achievements and
contributions made by a family, individual, business, corporation or
organization to the Fraser River. The nominee is inducted at a gala dinner
held in the fall.

 

The candidate must have made significant and noteworthy contributions to the
health and sustainability of the Fraser River, its people, industry or
environment. The contribution may be in the field of community leadership,
business and economic development, labour, industry, volunteer service and
other areas including research, culture and the arts. 

 

Past recipients have included: the late Bill Sauder (Interfor), Fraser River
Pile & Dredge Ltd., Russ Cooper & Family, Peter Bentley, Chick & Marilyn
Stewart, Thomas & William Ladner, Bill Gillis, Lucille Johnstone, Errol
Wintemute, The Fraser River Port Authority, Wendy Grant, Jack Bell, Ed &
Juanita Safarik, Ken & Dorothy Mackenzie, Colonel W.E. McKinney and Charles
Pretty, the Fraser Basin Council and Forrest Marine, Ltd.

 

The Fraser River Discovery Centre Society operates the Fraser River
Discovery Centre. Through interactive exhibits and engaging programming, the
non-profit society connects communities in discovery and celebration of the
living, working Fraser River.  

 

The deadline for nominations is 4:30 PM, January 31, 2011.  For further

The Fraser River Discovery Centre is an interpretive centre connecting
communities in discovery and celebration of the living, working Fraser
River. It is located at 788 Quayside Drive, New Westminster. The Discovery
Centre is open Wednesday to Saturday 10am to 4pm. Admission is by donation
for the exhibit galleries.
