ROLLOUT is a creative studio that designs and digitally prints custom wallpapers by the square foot and was founded when partners Anita Modhu and Jonathan Nodrick were offered a large format printer in 2005. Their first "show" of wallpaper patterns was held after inviting 30 artist friends to explore the potential of wallpaper as an art form.

Rollout has since worked with many local and international designers and their products have been exhibited at important design trade fairs both here in Canada and around the world.
Initially founded in Vancouver, Anita and Jonathan recently moved the main part of their operation to Toronto. The wallpaper samples on display here were chosen by Anita and Jonathan as an overview of their product. Rollout still maintains an office and studio in Vancouver and most of their products and projects are viewable on their website<http://rollout.ca/>.

The Burnaby Art Gallery is pleased to present this exhibition of the Ultraviolet screenprints that have been a major part of J.C. (Carl) Heywood's work since 1995. These works as well as 65 others recently returned to the gallery after a three year national tour in a show entitled A Life in Layers. The artist made a gift to the City of Burnaby of all the works in the exhibition at the conclusion of the tour.

Ultraviolet screenprinting is a technology that has only in the last twenty years developed to a point where the inks involved are no longer subject to fading. Special inks are exposed to high doses of Ultraviolet light in order to fuse the colours to the paper. The end result is a seamless coating of colour that is almost impossible to achieve with traditional screenprinting.
More information about Carl, his work and A Life in Layers is available on the Burnaby Art Gallery's website at: http://burnabyartgallery.ca/Heywood/

The Burnaby Art Gallery began as an association in 1967 collecting and presenting contemporary art and the City of Burnaby assumed management in 1998. Dedicated to presenting a historical and contemporary art program by local, regional, national and international artists, the Burnaby Art Gallery also facilitates the development of emerging artists. It provides a diverse art educational program a long with acquiring culturally significant works on paper; and caring for and managing the City of Burnaby Permanent Art Collection. Upcoming exhibitions and programming can be viewed at burnabyartgallery.ca<http://www.burnabyartgallery.ca>

The Burnaby Art Gallery gratefully acknowledges the funding support of the City of Burnaby and the British Columbia Arts Council in presenting the Art in the Librairies program.
