[BCMA] Museum Collection Management Systems

Hi Julia,

 

We can show you our "cross domain" product - library, archives, museum
and records management. The benefit is the sharing of the controlled
vocabulary (subjects and proper names) and obviously the
global/federated searches. You will large as well as very institutions
on our client list <http://eloquent-systems.com/clients/index.shtml> .
The software is very scalable. For example, the City of Toronto has over
400,000 descriptive records and very small institutions that use the
software on our server (SaaS) for a modest annual fee rather than
purchase it.

 

You will find access directly into some of our customer databases from
the client list. Or, give us a call and we can easily provide a demo via
GoToMeeting. While many of our customers are in the US, we are a
Vancouver company and you will be using a "made in BC" product. We could
even give you a free 30 day trial.

Dear All, 

 

I'd like to ask what Collection Management Systems you are using to
document your collections. 

 

At the museum at the Italian Cultural Centre we are currently using a
combination of Access and Excel to document both our museum and archive
material, but I hope to move to a purpose designed CMS at some point. We
also have a library onsite so may ultimately be looking for a "cross
domain" product which will enable us to manage our museum, library and
archive material. 

 

I'm not familiar with the Canadian/US market so any advice on systems
you have used would be gratefully received.
