Clarissa is one of 20 Aboriginal fibre artists participating in the 
Gallery's featured exhibition, Time Warp. Of Tlingit ancestry, she is a 
dynamic presenter and excels in both /Naaxiin/ (Chilkat) and Raven's 
Tail weaving and other art media, winning six best-of-show awards to 
date. She will be demonstrating /Naaxiin/ (Chilkat) style weaving.

practice of textile and fibre art on the Northwest Coast. Historically, 
textiles were marginalized because they were, and still are, considered 
to be "women's work" and purely decorative. /Time Warp/ challenges this 
gender bias, and explores the growing profile of textiles as a major 
Northwest Coast art form.

Full Circle: First Nations Performance presents the 10th annual Talking 
Stick Festival, a 13 day, city-wide celebration of Aboriginal 
performance and art. The 2011 festival will play its opening week 
February 1 - 6 at the Roundhouse before moving to various locations in 
the Commercial Drive area through February 13. The Festival will feature 
diverse programming, highlighting the talents of local, national and 
international artists in a fusion of cabaret, music, dance, theatre and 
storytelling.
