FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

*Museum and Local Artists Team Up to Bring History to Life*

*PORT MOODY, BC - July 2011 -* This July the Port Moody Station Museum is
working with painter J Peachy and Rebel Haunt Theatre on two new projects
that combine artistic talent and local heritage.

J Peachy, Anmore based artist and creative thinker who was recently featured
as a Kick Ass Canadian (http://kickasscanadians.ca/) created an original
painting of the station at the Museum’s Mother’s Day Tea last May and
auctioned the painting throughout June with partial proceeds to the Museum.

He also did live body painting at the 125th anniversary of the first
trans-Canada train event on July 1st. According to Peachy, “I am very
interested in Port Moody’s train history and enjoy using these themes in my
work. The body painting on July 1st depicted the journey of the first
trans-Canada train on my model starting with the Atlantic Ocean on one foot
and travelling across the body of prairies and mountains to reach the
Pacific Ocean on the other foot.”

Performer and playwright Sarah Dixon is at the heart of Rebel Haunt Theater,
a local theatre company. Sarah and her father Richard bring together young
actors to present theater in a unique way. This July 7th -10th Rebel Haunt
Theatre will use the Station Museum as its latest backdrop for their new
show “Home Town”. Known for their creative use of outdoor space, Dixon
thought the station would be a great set for one of their productions. Home
Town will be showing at 7:30pm July 7, 8, 9, and 10 with additional matinees
at 2:30pm on July 9 and 10.

“The station was part of the inspiration for Home Town,” says Dixon. “I
wanted to illustrate the quirky aspects that are common to almost every
small town. So I created a story of a girl who is leaving town and walking
down the town’s memory lane before she goes.”

Museum Coordinator, Rebecca Clarke, is thrilled to be working with such
creative minds. “When J and Sarah approached me I couldn’t say no. They both
had great ideas of new ways to bring the Museum - its stories and buildings
- to life. I am excited about doing something that bridges art and
heritage. It’s also great to see a new group of people interested in what we
do and having more young people visit our space.”

The Port Moody Station Museum, located at 2734 Murray Street in Port Moody
next to Rocky Point Park, is owned and operated by the non-profit Port Moody
Heritage Society, and is part of their effort to promote increased awareness
and knowledge of Port Moody's heritage and history. The Museum is currently
open every day from 10am to 5pm. Admission is by donation. For more
information, call (604) 939-1648 or visit the Museum’s website at
