For beautifully accomplished interpretive accessibility design, check out or contact the Cincinnati Children's Museum. They received a multi-million dollar donation to make the place as accessible to as many accessible needs as possible, and came up with many clever, practical and provocative interpretive strategies.
Even the topic of what are accessible challenges can be addressed in a much larger context than only mobility or sight issues. In Kamloops, the Mayor's Committee on Accessibility, with a dozen members each representing a different accessible need, proved a great resource when planning a renovation.

Subject: [BCMA] Accessibility Questions
We are currently working on a project to make the Gulf of Georgia Cannery more accessible to all visitors, especially those with disabilities. I have a couple of questions that I was hoping some of the people on the list might be able to help with.
1. Do you offer wheelchairs for use by your visitors? If so, what is
your policy around wheelchair use?
2. We are working on a tactile tour, and our specific challenge with
this is working with large pieces of machinery. Have you done
something like this, and if so, what works for you? If you are doing,
them, how often? What kind of response have you been getting?
3. We are looking to form partnerships with local schools, as well as
agencies which are run by and for people with disabilities. Do you
have partnerships like this? Who did you approach and how? What do
the partnerships look like?
4. What programs/initiatives are you running for visitors with
disabilities? What policies do you have in place?
Many thanks for any help you can give us. Please feel free to contact me directly at the email/phone below.
