Dear Media Partners:
The Kelowna Art Gallery is pleased to host our 25th annual Art in Action exhibition, on view March 11-June 8, 2011. The theme for this year's exhibition is Time Frame and features over 100 works of art created by middle and high school students from School District No. 23. An opening reception on Monday, March 14, 2011 will be held to launch the exhibition.
Your assistance with promoting this exhibition is most appreciated. Event listings would be most helpful, and I will also be following up with our print contacts to gage your interest in writing about this show in your arts section. Art in Action is one of the highlights in community exhibitions at the Gallery and is a fascinating study in the thoughts, ideas and visions of our youth articulated through visual art. March 14 also marks the beginning of Education Week in School District No. 23.
See the media release below and attached to this message; please contact me if you have questions or would like more information.
Cheers,
Kris Johnson

March 8, 2010 - Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Art Gallery is pleased to host our 25th annual Art in Action exhibition. The theme for this year's exhibition is Time Frame. The exhibition features over 100 works of art created by middle and high school students from School District No. 23.
Art in Action is a celebration of the creativity and talent of local youth. Each year, middle and high school students from School District No. 23 are asked to explore their imagination to create their unique visions of life through painting, sculpting, printmaking, drawing, and photography.
"Art in Action showcases the exemplary art activities taking place in local classrooms," says Kelowna Art Gallery Head of Public Programming, Renée Burgess. "The exhibition gives students an increased sense of pride in their work and fosters positive attitudes towards youth continuing their studies in the visual arts." Art in Action is one of the highlights in community exhibitions at the Gallery and is a fascinating study in the thoughts, ideas and visions of our youth articulated through visual art.
An opening reception will be held on Monday, March 14, 2011, 7-9 pm to launch the exhibition. The reception is free and open to the public.
