Dear friends, 

The David Lam Centre is sponsoring a visit by Professor Alison Marshall of
Brandon University who will be introducing her book The Way of the 
Bachelor newly published by UBC Press. It presents an account spanning 
the late nineteenth-century through the mid twentieth-century of new 
Chinese Canadians who moved from coastal regions to settle in small 
Prairie towns. 

The work is based on archival work and personal interviews and presents a
rich and intimate picture of the lives of these Canadian settlers. 

Feel free to spread the word. The event is free and open to the public.
