Celebrate International Museums Day at your Kelowna Museums!
The Kelowna Museums Society invites you to discover your Kelowna Museums on International Museums Day, Wednesday, May 18th.     The theme for 2011 is "Memory", and the Kelowna Museums Society is celebrating the memory of our heroes of the past and present!
Free admission all day, the Okanagan Heritage Museum, the BC Orchard Industry Museum, the BC Wine Museum, and the Okanagan Military Museum invite you to rejoice in both the memories and stories of your history.
Highlights:


·          Visit the Okanagan Heritage Museum and see our current exhibit:  The Memory Project: Art and Stories of the Second World War.    This unique exhibit showcases the artwork of young artists inspired by oral histories as told by Canada's veterans and heroes of the Second World War.

ú  Hands on activities

ú  An exclusive showing of a  painting painted in the artist's own blood

·         Celebrating 100 Years of the BC Dragoons, the Okanagan Military Museum's newest exhibit features a new mural dedicated to the BC Dragoons, and artefacts from Canada's most decorated war hero - including the rare Victoria Cross!

·         The bees are back!  Come down to the BC Orchard Industry Museum and see our live demonstration beehive - can you find the queen?

·         At the BC Wine Museum and VQA Wine Shop see the history of viticulture come alive!  To celebrate this special day, we are hosting a free wine tasting!
