The Kelowna Museums Society (KMS) is a private, non-profit, charitable organization committed to the preservation, interpretation and display of the human and natural history relating to the City of Kelowna and the Okanagan Valley.
Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director (ED) position provides strategic leadership and active support to the staff, Board and community in the curatorial and operational areas of the KMS. The ED oversees the management of eight operational entities including the Okanagan Heritage Museum; Okanagan Military Museum: BC Orchard Industry Museum; BC Wine Museum; Laurel Packinghouse; Kelowna Public Archives; Central Okanagan Sports Hall of Fame Museum; and the Ursula Surtees Regional Conservation Laboratory.

The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor Degree at minimum and preferably will hold a Master Degree in a relevant field of study e.g. Museum Studies, Business, Geography, History, Anthropology, Archaeology, Sociology, Sciences; and with a Professional Designation also preferred, e.g. CSAE (Canadian Society of Association Executives), AFP (Association of Fundraising Professionals).
To be successful in this role, the following employment experience is required:
* Progressive responsibility and scope in a leadership role, preferably at the community level in an arts related and/or cultural organization (five years minimum);
* Experience working with a Board of Directors or service on a non-profit Board;
* Proven success working with granting agencies/funding partners;
* Experience working with different levels of government;
* Proven experience in project management.
Other desired experience includes: proven skill in public speaking/presentations; demonstrated community involvement; and a willingness to work according to the Kelowna Museums Society's core values, and operating principles and to become familiar with the history and cultures of the Okanagan Valley.
This Executive/Management position offers competitive salary and a comprehensive benefit package.
