The Museum Curator performs professional, curatorial and
administrative work at the Burnaby Village Museum. Duties include
the acquisition, identification, documentation, conservation,
security, maintenance and restoration of Museum artifacts and
archives. In addition to participation in the preparation and
administration of the operational budget, responsibilities include
the development and implementation of policies, plans and strategies
related to curatorial resources; securing curatorial operational and
project grants, sponsorship and donations; controlling the use of
funds received; and planning and developing displays and
exhibitions. The Museum Curator plans, assigns and supervises the
work of staff and oversees volunteers and performs related work as
required.

Qualifications include University graduation in History, Museum
Studies or a related discipline, preferably some post-graduate
training including emphasis on B.C. Lower Mainland historyand sound
related curatorial experience /OR/ an equivalent combination of
training and experience. Considerable knowledge of the methods,
practices and techniques used in the acquisition, identification,
cataloguing maintenance, security, conservation of museum artifacts
and archival material is required. Other qualifications include the
ability to develop and implement policies, plans and strategies
related to curatorial resources; to develop and monitor the
operating budget for the curatorial section; and to write grant
applications. A valid Class 5 B.C. Drivers License is also needed.

*SALARY**RANGE**:$5,053 to $5,969per month*
*STATUS:Temporary Full Time (to December 07, 2010)*
