The Maritime Museum of BC - Amazing Sea Stories

For Immediate Release

October 18, 2011

Halloween Fright-Fest at the Maritime Museum of BC

Urban Arts Productions and the Maritime Museum of British Columbia invite you to embark on a dark, mysterious journey into the life of American poet Edgar Allan Poe. Nevermore is a bold, exciting musical that breaks boundaries, challenges audiences and brings Poe's passion and obsessions to life in a most extraordinary way. Urban Arts is excited to bring back this haunting musical to Victoria audiences for the Halloween season, staging it in the original Supreme Courtroom of British Columbia located at the Maritime Museum of BC. With hauntingly beautiful melodies, Nevermore breathes new life into Poe's work and explores a twisted true-life tale as bizarre as his classic stories of the macabre. It is a montage, a whirlwind, a dream, a life and a nightmare all in one.

Nevermore runs Thursdays through Saturdays from October 27th - 29th and from November 3rd - 5th 2011 with a special spooky midnight performance on October 29th.

Tickets for this dark musical are available at the door beginning one hour prior to performance. Performances begin at 8:00pm and run for 90 minutes. Limited reserved advanced tickets are available online at www.urbanartsproductions.com<http://www.urbanartsproductions.com>. For more information, please contact Urban Arts Productions. Nevermore is presented with permission through and all materials provided by Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW). Originally produced by Signature Theatre, Arlington Virginia.

Also this October, mark your calendars for the Museum's popular annual Ghost Tours! Come hear the true chilling tales of ghostly sightings and sounds at the Maritime Museum of BC. You may even catch a glimpse of Judge Begbie, the infamous "Hanging Judge" as it is said that he still wanders the third floor keeping vigilant watch over his courtroom. Admission is $13.00 per person and the tour begins at 6pm in the Museum's Gift Shop. Ghost Tours run Oct. 20th - 23rd and Oct 27th - 30th. Please call 250-385-4222 ext. 113 to reserve a spot.

If that's not enough to scare you, the Maritime Museum of BC is also hosting two more Ghost Hunts. Dare to step into the veil of the unexplained and experience the Maritime Museum of BC like never before. Open to skeptics and believers alike, this event will provide opportunity to perhaps uncover the truth of what really wanders the halls of the old Courthouse past midnight.

Former UK based Dawn Kirkham, clairvoyant medium and member of PARAVI Victoria's Paranormal Research Society will use her many years of experience to facilitate the ghostly investigation. This will not be a guided tour; participants will use investigative devices to seek out the unknown that resides in the walls of the Museum. The investigation begins at 10:00pm and continues until 3am on both Friday, Oct. 28th and Saturday, Nov. 5th. Cost is $55 per person and includes light refreshments. Preregistration is required.

For more information on any of these events or to preregister, please call 250-385-4222, ext. 113 or visit our website at mmbc.bc.ca.
