Royal BC Museum Family Passes now Available at the Greater Victoria Public Library
Victoria, BC - The Royal BC Museum is proud to announce that 20 Royal BC Museum Family Passes may now be borrowed from the Greater Victoria Public Library.
Each Royal BC Museum Family Pass allows two adults and up to three youth free general admission to all galleries and exhibitions at the Royal BC Museum. The Royal BC Museum Family Passes can be borrowed for one week and are available, to anyone with a valid adult Greater Victoria Public Library card, from any of the ten branches in the region.
"Our role is to share British Columbia's story and to showcase natural and human history artifacts from our collection," said Pauline Rafferty, CEO of the Royal BC Museum. "This partnership is an opportunity for the Royal BC Museum to connect with Victorians and invite them to join us in exploring our collective heritage."
"The museum and archives preserve the stories of our province and these stories need to be told," said Maureen Sawa, CEO of the Greater Victoria Public Library. "Working with our cultural partners like the Royal BC Museum we are able to provide community members with unique educational experiences that they may not be able to enjoy otherwise."
Having the ability to borrow Royal BC Museum Family Passes from the library will mean that individuals and families in and around Victoria will have increased access, which is a priority for the Royal BC Museum. Every year thousands of BC students and educators visit the museum - free of charge - and the Admission by Donation week in January is always popular.
The Royal BC Museum Family Pass Program will allow access to all upcoming Royal BC Museum exhibitions including:
Wildlife Photographer of the Year opens Dec. 16, 2011 and runs through Apr. 9, 2012. This exhibition will show visitors the wonders of nature through a new lens. The work of award winning photographers in 18 different categories will be displayed. The 108 photographs chosen for the exhibition were judged to be the best of more than 40,000 entries.
Dinosaurs: Ancient Fossils, New Discoveries arrives at the Royal BC Museum on May 17, 2012 for four months. This exhibition looks at how paleontologists use new technologies to dig up the long-dead secrets of the dinosaurs and includes life-size cast skeletons of T-Rex and Stegosaurus.
Queen Elizabeth II by Cecil Beaton: A Diamond Jubilee Celebration runs June 1 to Sept. 3, 2012 and features nearly 100 portraits by acclaimed royal photographer, designer and avid diarist Cecil Beaton (1904-1980). The exhibition depicts the Queen in her roles as princess, monarch and mother, and will include a number of previously unpublished photographs, alongside extracts from Beaton's personal diaries and letters.
