Hi Nancy,
Museums are not just for keepsakes for the rich and famous. Here at Telkwa Museum and also at the Smithers Museum we have some some rotating exhibits on many topics from the different sports to agriculture and also ones on ethnic groups reflecting the background of the local population. Many seemingly ordinary trophies can have very interesting stories. These can highlight both pioneer merchants or other donors and the recipients. As museums are often visited by the descendants of local pioneers it is nice for them to see trophies which bring back memories. I would certainly keep all perpetual trophies and even best in divisions but might think twice when every member of a team received a small cup.
Just my some thoughts.

Before we engage in a conversation about whether some of the trophies should be transferred to the Museum & Archives, rather than discarded, I’ll want to develop a set of significance criteria to help guide our decision making. If names such as famous NV athletes Harry Jerome or Karen Magnussen appear on any of the trophies they’re probably keepers. But what other criteria would you use when deciding whether to accession a trophy?
