FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

BC Sports Hall of Fame President and CEO, Sue Griffin is nominated for a
YWCA Metro Woman of Distinction Award.

Vancouver, B.C. (April 13, 2012)

The BC Sports Hall of Fame is proud to announce President and CEO Sue
Griffin has been nominated for a YWCA Metro Vancouver Woman of Distinction
Award in the Non-Profit and Public Service category. The YWCA Metro
Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards recognize nominees showcasing
individuals who are driving positive change for women and girls, either
directly or by example. Activities and achievements of all potential
nominees align with the YWCA's values. The candidate's participation in
employment, recreation or special interests encapsulate the spirit of
women's equality as outlined in YWCA Metro Vancouver's mission and vision.

Sue Griffin's passion and commitment to educating British Columbians through
the values of sport is manifested in her role as CEO of the BC Sports Hall
of Fame. As the Hall's first female President & CEO, she has transformed
the Hall into a first-class destination and community outreach vehicle. She
leveraged partnerships to send athletes and artifacts to schools and
community centres, inspiring countless Metro Vancouver children to set goals
and pursue their dreams through sport heritage. Under her direction, the
Hall's official induction ceremony and signature fundraiser, the Banquet of
Champions now attracts 1,000+ guests annually, honouring BC's top athletes.
Her most recent achievement was the unveiling of the Vancouver 2010 Gallery,
boasting the world's largest collection of 2010 artifacts. Sue has
repositioned the BCSHF as a leader within the sport sector and community and
is recognized globally as the 'go-to' organization for BC Sport Heritage,
demonstrated by the International Olympic Committee's relationship with the
BCSHF.

Support for her nomination was broad and is well summarized by BC Sports
Hall of Famer and Whitecaps' legend Bob Lenarduzzi, "Sue Griffin certainly
encapsulates the spirit of women's equality as outlined in the YWCA's
mission and vision. Sue is energetic and community minded, and was
remarkable in her leadership and management of the BC Sports Hall of Fame
transformation into BC Place. As a proud member I am truly impressed with
her accomplishments in raising the profile of the BC Sports Hall of Fame, in
reaching out to its members and engaging them in the Hall's advocacy efforts
and community events."

The YWCA Metro Vancouver Women of Distinction Awards take place on May 24th.
Best of luck to Sue Griffin and all of the nominees.
