The Britannia Mine Museum Hosts 10th Annual Copper & Fire Arts Event
Community arts event showcases unique crafts from artists and live music
Sunday, August 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Britannia Beach, BC The Britannia Mine Museum is hosting its 10th Annual
Copper & Fire Arts Event on Sunday, August 12 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. where
talented artists from all over British Columbia will showcase unique crafts
and live music will echo through Howe Sound. Copper & Fire is the museum¹s
premiere summer event showcasing musicians and the crafts of artists with
themes of copper, fire, and mined materials ³of the earth.²
³Our signature Copper & Fire Arts Event is a unique opportunity for people
to see the connections between art and mined materials from the earth,² says
Kirstin Clausen, executive director of the Britannia Mine Museum. ³As the
saying goes, if you can¹t grow it, it must be mined¹ which illustrates how
integral resources are in our lives, and in this case, mined resources. It¹s
thrilling to see how these talented artists can morph and transform metal
and minerals into amazing art pieces.²
The Copper & Fire Arts Event features British Columbia artists such as metal
workers using copper and bronze, ceramic artists using a number of different
mediums, and jewelers, including:
· Daniel Miller, chainmail artist from Vancouver Island,

historic Machine Shop that runs till September 16, 2012. ³MINeD² is a series
of metal sculpture art pieces that are lively and organic in shape, created
by artist Margie McDonald, to symbolize the imaginations of the brain
through the use of recycled metal materials. The new exhibit reflects
mining, the materials that are mined and how these elements influence art.
Located 45 minutes north of Vancouver on the picturesque Sea-to-Sky highway,
the Britannia Mine Museum was transformed from a mining legacy site into a
vibrant internationally recognized destination in 2010. The museum provides
an unforgettable visitor experience with the new Beaty-Lundin Visitor
Centre, the Britannia A-Z heritage hall, the historic 20-storey Mill
building, the underground mine train and outdoor gold panning. Open seven
days a week from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. with guided tours every 45 minutes
