Canadian Museum for Human Rights staff exodus tied to content change
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
One-third of the employees hired by the Canadian Museum for Human Rights have left the institution since
it was formed three years ago. The first national museum located in Winnipeg is suffering from high
turnover with the departure or dismissal of at least 34 of the staff members it has hired since 2009. The
institution's current staffing level is pegged at 68 people. Museum administrators say 20 permanent
employees either left, were fired or were declared redundant, while another 14 term positions ended.

juin 2011. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Rekindling our love affair with the Group of Seven
The Record Share/Partager
It used to be said that Canadian artists had to win acclaim elsewhere before gaining recognition at home. If
Painting Canada: Tom Thomson and the Group of Seven is any indication, remnants of our infamous
national inferiority complex continue to linger. More/LIRE PLUS

It's our Winnipeg, for art's sake
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
Ask any Winnipegger what their favourite piece of public art is and the response will likely be a confused
look and the question, 'Winnipeg has public art?' Ours is an artistic community. With only two per cent of
Canada's population, we have 12 per cent of its musicians. We have the country's oldest civic art gallery,
French-language theatre, English regional theatre and dance company. More/LIRE PLUS

Moore: Provinces failing on teaching children Canadian history
Global News Share/Partager
Provinces are falling down on their responsibility to teach Canadian children the history of their country,
Heritage Minister James Moore said, explaining his government's significant investments promoting major
events in Canada's past. The Conservatives have come under fire for spending more than $28 million to
fund historical re-enactments, upgrade museum exhibits, create a commemorative silver coin and produce
a mobile app, among other things, in celebration of the War of 1812 bicentennial. More/LIRE PLUS
