Head fundraiser leaving human rights museum
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
The acting CEO of the fundraising arm of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights is adding her name to
the list of former employees and fundraisers of the museum. Susan Graham has been acting as the CEO of
Friends of the Canadian Museum for Human Rights since June, when Dav Cvitokovic left to 'pursue other
opportunities' after less than a year in the job. More/LIRE PLUS

Cuts to Rideau Canal hours and budget raising alarm bells
Ottawa Citizen Share/Partager
Cuts to the historic Rideau Canal's operating hours, coupled with budget reductions at Parks Canada, are
raising serious concerns and could even put its World Heritage Site designation at risk, canal supporters
say. While Parks Canada announced that the 180-year-old canal will operate from May 17 through
Thanksgiving as in the past, daily hours of operation have been cut, in some cases more than expected.

Thorold leading way in recognizing historic properties
Niagara This Week Share/Partager
Thorold has become a 'shining' example of how communities can preserve invaluable heritage buildings,
says a spokesman for the Heritage Canada Foundation. Chris Wiebe, manager of heritage policy and
government relations for the national charity dedicated to the preservation of nationally significant, historic
buildings, structures and places, spent some time recently touring some of the many sites in Thorold that
have received historic designations. He came away very impressed. More/LIRE PLUS

Submarine a home run for tourism
Sudbury Star Share/Partager
With Mother Nature batting for it, Ontario's never had to belt out made-from-scratch tourism hits. Stunning
natural vistas, we do. Colossal theme parks, not so much. Not that some parts of the province couldn't use
a Disney-like home run to revive their economies. Take the denuded flatlands of Southwestern Ontario
between Detroit and Toronto, through which the nation's busiest highway runs. More/LIRE PLUS
