Hello BC Heritage Community (and Particularly Heritage Interpreters)!

Athabasca University's Heritage Resources Management program is accepting registrations for our upcoming semester's courses, and as part of our Post-Baccalaureate Diploma program we are offering HERM 561, Advanced Issues in Interpretive Planning. This is a paced course offered only once per year, each January. HERM 561 is suitable training for heritage interpreters holding undergraduate degrees in any subject area. The full course syllabus is available here: http://www2.athabascau.ca/syllabi/herm/herm561.php.

For heritage interpreters who do not hold an undergraduate degree, we also offer HERM 361, Interpretive Programming. This is an unpaced course offered on continuous enrollment, meaning that students may start the class on the first day of any month throughout the year, creating a highly flexible learning opportunity. The deadline to apply for any of our undergrad classes is the 10th day of the month prior to the start date.

Our courses are equally open to students who wish to complete our full programs, and also to visiting students who wish to take one class for professional development or apply it towards a credential at another institution. Thus, between our graduate and undergraduate programs we have academic opportunities for almost any heritage professional, even for students just wanting to sample one class rather than embark on a full program.

We also have a number of other classes beginning in the new year, including the graduate classes HERM 501, Issues in Heritage Resources Management, (paced, starting in January) HERM 512, Advanced Methods in Heritage Research, (continuous enrollment), and eight other undergraduate classes. Full details on our programs and classes may be found on the Heritage Resources Management program website here:
