I just wanted to follow up with Steven's email (below) and let everyone know that UVIC's Cultural Resource Management Program is pleased to offer a Cultural Tourism course (on-campus, January 21-26, 2013) with instructor, Steven Thorne.  As you can see from his blog (link is below), Steven's forward-thinking approach to cultural tourism (or "place-based" tourism, as he has coined it) will be of interest and great benefit to all of us in the cultural heritage field.
