Canadian Museum of History: A chance to embrace our national narrative
Toronto Star Share/Partager
Who's afraid of the H word? Clue: It has seven letters and it is about the past. Maybe you learned a lot
about it in high school. Or depending on where you went to school, maybe you did not learn much. Either
way, you know the word: History. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Fisheries Museum could move to Souris
CBC News Share/Partager
The Basin Head Fisheries Museum, part of the P.E.I. Museum, may be moved down the road to Souris.
The museum currently shares space with a popular provincial park and beach at the eastern end of the
Island. Tourism Minister Rob Henderson said his department is still trying to decide if the museum is still
the best fit for Basin Head. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

A critical examination of human rights
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
It was always accepted that somewhere in the Canadian Museum for Human Rights, the story of Viola
Desmond would be told. Desmond, a Nova Scotia salon owner, was arrested in 1946 for refusing to leave
the main floor of a New Glasgow movie theatre, which was open only to whites. She was fined $20 plus $6
in court costs after being charged with fraud by the Nova Scotia government. More/LIRE PLUS

Toronto museums let loose with adults-only parties that mix art with alcohol
The Canadian Press Share/Partager
A massive duck-billed dinosaur looms over the dance floor at one of Toronto's newest hot spots,
overlooking the DJ churning out throbbing house music. On the other side, a hulking Buddha sits cross-
legged, its hands clasped in prayer. It's Friday night and the Royal Ontario Museum is teeming with young
women in minidresses and staggeringly high heels along with young men in collared shirts - outfits more
often reserved for a night on the town than touring the natural history wing. More/LIRE PLUS
