Kelowna Art Gallery Welcoming Registrations for Winter 2013 Art Classes and Workshops

December 17, 2012 - Kelowna, BC: The Kelowna Art Gallery is accepting registrations for our Winter 2013 art classes and workshops for youth and adults. Classes start in January and run through early March. Registration is now underway and the Gallery encourages local creative types to take advantage of these high-quality, intimate classes.

Reasonably priced art classes will be offered in painting and drawing, with most classes running for five weeks. Classes cater to absolute beginners, as well as to those of intermediate skill level. Beginner classes teach students the basic principles of their preferred medium, while also giving them the opportunity to discuss, explore, and express themselves through visual art. More advanced students will build on their existing skills through creative exercises to enhance their abilities. Instruction by the Gallery's art teachers is supportive, motivating, and inspiring.

This season, the Gallery has expanded our Winter art class schedule to include weekend workshops by well-known local artists Dawn Emerson and Laura Widmer. Emerson will host a workshop focusing on a mixed-media approach to drawing based on her piece Certain Movement, currently on view at the Kelowna International Airport. Laura Widmer's workshop will offer an introduction to the art of linocut printmaking.

Gift certificates for art classes are now available from the Gallery, and are a wonderful holiday gift-giving idea. Those registering before January 11, 2013 will receive a 10% discount on fees.
