Wells Works

The annual exhibition and performances by Wells artists opened on Saturday, December 8. Bob Campbell and Yael Wand (with baby Naomi), pictured above, were a couple of the talented performers who took the stage. The exhibition runs until January 19th, so please stop in and take a look. Also on display is the ArtsFest Touring Show which was juried from this year's CIRAC Regional Art Exhibition. A huge thank you to all the participating artists and Caroline Anders who coordinated the visual artists and Bob Campbell who hosted the Coffeehouse.

The IMA Public Gallery is calling all artists to submit proposals for exhibiting their work in the Public Gallery in 2013-2014.

IMA’s gallery is the ideal space to exhibit many types of media. This professional yet intimate gallery space is 82 linear feet and has 12-foot high ceilings. The gallery makes use of natural light that floods in through huge storefront windows, and can also adapt for floodlights and spotlights instead of sunlight.

Reading in the IMA Gallery on Friday, December 28 with Sue Safyan

Author Sue Safyan will be at the Island Mountain Arts Gallery in Wells on Friday, December 28th at 7pm to read from her newly published book All Roads Lead to Wells: Stories of the Hippie Days. Featured in the latest issue of BC Bookworld, Safyan's book is "like a high school annual for an entire town, it’s a fascinating and intimate chronicle of how back-to-landers mixed with rancher-types to make a remarkable community, one that has since evolved into one of the foremost centres for the arts in B.C.," writes Sage Birchwater. The reading is by donation and is made possible with financial assistance from the Canada Council for the Arts through The Writer’s Union of Canada.

IMA's Getting a Brand New Kiln!

Thanks to a gaming grant from the province, IMA is able to purchase a new kiln to install at the Wells/Barkerville School. This will provide access for both the elementary school and the local community as well as for Island Mountain Arts programs. Watch for some great adult and children's pottery workshops coming this summer! A big thanks to the District of Wells for their support of this project.
