Abbotsford, BC... The Longhand Trio bring their acclaimed brand of jazz to Live @ The Reach Saturday, February 18, 2012,  7pm at The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford, 32388 Veterans Way. Longhand has a varied repertoire ranging from high energy free improv to melancholy tunes with beautiful melodies. The jazz power trio of Tony Wilson (guitar and harmonica), Skye Brooks (drums, guitar and vocals) and Russell Scholberg (bass and saw) bring you everything from classic guitar trios to harmonica, saw and percussion to harmonica, vocals and bass.

Along with original music, Longhand offers their unique interpretations of jazz, blues and classic Motown tunes. The trio members are also part of the following ensembles: The Inhabitants, Veda Hille, Peggy Lee Band, Pugs and Crows to name a few, as well as being the rhythm section of the Tony Wilson 5tet.

Tony Wilson won a West Coast Music Award with his band Video Barbeque and released the critically acclaimed 'Lowest Note',  which went on to become a pick of the year in the Globe and Mail (2001). Vancouver's Coastal Jazz and Blues hails him as "unquestionably one of the most original guitar stylists on the Canadian scene". Down Beat Magazine describes him as "...a talismanic West Coast figure."  He has studied with many acclaimed jazz musicians including Oliver Gannon, Dave Holland, John Abercrombie, Kevin Eubanks and Steve Coleman.

Skye Brooks is known for his explosive drumming skills with his JUNO nominated band Inhabitants and the genre-busting Fond of Tigers. Skye also regularly backs up unique songstresses such as Veda Hille, Ndidi Onukwulu and Jill Barber.  Russell Scholberg is the mainstay for many projects from CDs (JP Carter Trio, Astrid, Tony Wilson 5tet), film (The Corporation), theatre (Letters From Lithuania, Mortal Coil) and more.

Live @ The Reach is an eclectic music series presented by The Reach Gallery Museum Abbotsford.
