CALL FOR FRASER RIVER HALL OF FAME NOMINATIONS

 

New Westminster – Nominations are now being sought for the 2012 inductee
into the prestigious Fraser River Hall of Fame. Each year, the Fraser River
Discovery Centre Society recognizes and honours the significant achievements
and contributions made by a family, individual, business, corporation or
organization to the Fraser River. 

 

Candidate must have made noteworthy contributions to the health and
sustainability of the Fraser River, its people, industry or environment and
may be in the field of community leadership, business and economic
development, labour, industry, volunteer service and other areas including
research, culture and the arts. 

 

Joining an esteemed list of past recipients the nominee will be inducted at
the Fraser River Hall of Fame Gala in the fall. Past recipients have
included the late Bill Sauder (Interfor), Fraser River Pile & Dredge Ltd.,
Russ Cooper & Family, Peter Bentley, Chick & Marilyn Stewart, Thomas &
William Ladner, Bill Gillis, Lucille Johnstone, Errol Wintemute, The Fraser
River Port Authority, Wendy Grant, Jack Bell, Ed & Juanita Safarik, Ken &
Dorothy Mackenzie, Colonel W.E. McKinney and Charles Pretty, the Fraser
Basin Council, Forrest Marine, Ltd and 2011’s recipient, Fraser River Raft
Expeditions. 

 

The deadline for nominations is 4:30pm, January 31, 2012.  For further

The Fraser River Discovery Centre Society operates the Fraser River
Discovery Centre. Through interactive exhibits and engaging programming the
Centre connects communities in discovery and celebration of the living,
working Fraser River.  Located along the boardwalk in New Westminster at 788
Quayside Drive, the Discovery Centre is open Wednesday to Saturday 10am to
4pm.  Admission to the exhibit galleries is by donation.
