Vandals smash duck-billed dinosaur fossil to pieces in Alberta
The Canadian Press Share/Partager
Paleontologists were thrilled when they found the fossilized remains of a duck-billed dinosaur in
northwestern Alberta last month. But joy turned quickly to despair when they returned to the site near the
Red Willow River a few days ago and found that vandals had smashed the Hadrosaur skeleton to pieces.

Rocket lands in Manitoba Museum's science gallery
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
The Manitoba Museum's science gallery is blasting into a new era with the acquisition of a full-size rocket
for permanent display. Bristol Aerospace, the Winnipeg division of Magellan Aerospace, commemorated
the 50th anniversary of the first launch of its Black Brant rocket by donating a newly manufactured Black
Brant V to the museum. The research rocket, commonly known as a sounding rocket, is valued at more
than $100,000. It's about 30 feet long. It will be installed at the current science gallery this fall or winter,
once an exhibit about its history and contribution to science has been created. More/LIRE PLUS

Four Wars too stingy with detail
Chronicle Herald Share/Partager
A new exhibit has opened at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa, which will run until Jan. 6, 2013.
Originally titled Four Wars of 1812, it is now simply called 1812 and is said to be one of the most ambitious
exhibitions ever mounted by the national war museum. More/LIRE PLUS

Small towns offer up glimpse into Ontario history
The Record Share/Partager
Summer's the time to explore our area, and beyond. Country views, history, odd enterprises, good food,
even wine, can all be part of a day's wandering. Try a circle tour into Oxford and Elgin counties, for a good
mix of old and new experiences. More/LIRE PLUS

Oldest yacht in Pacific Northwest being restored by Gabriolan
Nanaimo News Bulletin Share/Partager
Dorothy is rotten. Her insides are being eaten away. For more than 8 years she's remained hidden from
the public eye. She could be suffering from iron sickness, but Gabriolan shipwright Tony Grove won't know
for certain until he takes a closer look inside the yacht's hull. Iron sickness occurs when different metals are
used and react in high-moisture environments, which leads to rust and wood decay in the areas
surrounding the metal. More/LIRE PLUS

Meet 3 people who are making Calgary Canada's hottest arts hub
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
Artistic types in Calgary are frankly getting a little tired of hearing that the art coming out of their city is so
good, it could have been made somewhere else: Toronto, New York. The arts are thriving in Calgary, and
it's time to give the boot to any outdated stereotypes. More/LIRE PLUS
