Fort Steele Heritage Town is a restored turn-of-the-Twentieth-Century
village near Cranbrook, BC, managed as a heritage site/living history
tourist attraction. The site is managed by the Friends of Fort Steele
Society under contract with the Provincial Government.



The Friends of Fort Steele Society is seeking a proven leader with strong
administrative and personnel management skills to manage the day-to-day
operations of Fort Steele Heritage Town.

The General Manager works under the direction of, and reports to, the
President of the Society’s Board of Directors.  The successful candidate
will lead a year-round multi-disciplinary team of 20 individuals,
approximately 80 seasonal staff and up to 300 volunteers in the delivery of
a diverse range of activities in: heritage conservation, interpretation,
asset management, marketing/promotion and product development.

Applicants should have:



·         A proven background in administrating a large multi-function and
multi-disciplinary organization including marketing and fundraising.  An
emphasis in heritage/cultural resource management, tourism, and or
education/interpretation is preferred.

·         A minimum of five years of experience in business or
organizational management and leadership with demonstrated experience in
directing a large and diverse staff.

·         A good background in personnel and financial management.

·          Ability to develop a strong relationship with the surrounding
business community and various levels of Government.
