MEMBER SERVICES, GIFT SHOP & VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR

 

We're looking for a responsible, organized and enthusiastic individual to be
our Member Services, Gift Shop & Volun-teer Coordinator! Since 1983, the
Canmore Museum & Geoscience Centre has been dedicated to telling the stories
of our mountains and our communities for present and future generations.
This position entails overseeing the full operation of the Museum Gift Shop
and North West Mounted Police Barracks historical site. Under the
supervision of the Museum Director, responsibilities will include: 

 

.Supervising Gift Shop/front desk volunteers, weekend staff, and summer
students, including assigning of duties, writing and implementation of
policies, and creating/maintaining procedure and volunteer manuals 

 

.Scheduling of weekend staff and volunteers for the museum Gift Shop/front
desk and volunteers for the barracks site 

 

.maintaining visitor attendance statistics, membership records and contacts,
and charitable tax receipt records. 

 

.Managing all barracks activities including Tea and Gift Shoppe, Art in the
Park, banner bookings and all barracks and off-site special events
(including monthly barracks events and Canmore Folk Festival/Canmore
Highland Games booths) 

 

.Research and write volunteer policies, including maintaining a volunteer
manual with volunteer job descriptions and a volunteer rewards system. 

 

.Various administrative duties, including research, working with local media
to promote events and monthly reports to the Board of Directors

 

.Other duties as required

 

This position requires someone with experience in retail management,
including scheduling of staff, merchandising, order-ing, tracking sales,
inventory, cash handling, cash registers, and POS systems. The successful
applicant must also possess excellent communication and time management
skills, with the ability to maintain strong working relationships.
Addi-tional skills and requirements: 

 

.Experience with statistics, budgets, finances, and accounting. 

 

.Experience training staff/volunteers and managing human resources,
including delegation of duties. 

 

.Intermediate experience with computers, including Word and Excel.
Experience with database programs, graphic design and PowerPoint an asset. 

 

.Experience planning and implementing community programs for various age
groups, including preparation of promo-tional material. 

 

.Ability to write in a clear and concise manner. 

 

.Bachelor of Arts degree in history, business, education, science, or museum
management would be an asset.
