Manitoba arts groups get $2.2 million in funding
Brandon Sun Share/Partager
Manitoba arts and cultural organizations will get $2.2 million in funding from the Harper government this
year, St. Boniface MP Shelly Glover. Glover said the 23 groups receiving funding, including the Festival du
Voyageur and Manitoba Theatre for Young People, will get the support through seven programs under the
Department of Canadian Heritage. More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE

Michael Snow's object lessons
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
Except perhaps for their children's departments, art galleries tend to be 'look-but-don't-touch' zones for
patrons. So it's a bit of surprise to attend Objects of Vision at the Art Gallery of Ontario in Toronto and be
invited, encouraged even, to crawl under, walk through, sit on, peer into and touch some of the 14 artifacts
on display. More/LIRE PLUS
U.S. photographer picks Kennedy Gallery for Canadian debut
North Bay Nugget Share/Partager
Tea with Katharine Hepburn. Lunch with Faye Dunaway. Photographers never lose the anxiety of meeting
the subjects of their portraits, and that more than any equipment within Lonnie Schlein's reach has taught
him how to break down barriers and find what makes people tick. More/LIRE PLUS

Canadian Badlands offer a hotbed of dinosaur fossils
Chicago Tribune Share/Partager
Though most people view dinosaur bones in air-conditioned natural history museums, in the Canadian
Badlands travelers can see them outside, where the fossils still poke out of the ground. More/LIRE PLUS
Sloman School Car celebration is July 21
Mitchell Advocate Share/Partager
Area residents and visitors are being urged to get on board the Sloman School Car train, as it celebrates
its 30th year of educating educational and train buffs alike. It isn't often that the main artifact of a museum is
the museum itself. But so it is with the soon to be 100-year-old Sloman School on Wheels Railcar Museum,
resting on its specially built rail bed in south Clinton's Sloman Park. More/LIRE PLUS
Hit the road to southern Alberta
Calgary Herald Share/Partager
If you're looking for an ideal Alberta getaway, it's time to circle the wagons, cars, SUVs and trucks. There's
a perfect ring of high-ways - a circle tour - in the southern part of the province that attracts visitors from
far and wide. The area is packed full of attractions, natural beauty, historic sites and activities, while also
offering dozens of farmers' markets, festivals, arts and craft stops, rodeos and powwows. More/LIRE PLUS
Rug-hooking artist 'finds home' at Multi
Spruce Grove Examiner Share/Partager
Rachelle LeBlanc, the latest feature artist at the Multicultural Heritage Centre's Public Art Gallery, is hoping
to `hook´ audiences with her rug-hooking exhibit 'Finding Home' opening this weekend. More/LIRE PLUS
