Falun Gong practitioners seek religious freedom
Winnipeg Free Press Share/Partager
The Canadian Museum for Human Rights is being asked to give a voice to people who've been silenced,
persecuted and used for parts in China. University of Manitoba social work professor Maria Cheung has
spoken out against China's human rights violations since 2008 when Beijing hosted the Olympics. When
Bodies: The Exhibition came to Winnipeg last year with cadavers from China that had no paperwork to
prove the bodies were donated, alarm bells went off for Cheung, who organized a protest. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

Dinosaur museum future in doubt after funding setback
CBC News Share/Partager
The future of a proposed dinosaur museum in the Grande Prairie region may be in jeopardy after
organizers learned they aren't getting $10 million in federal funding. The proposed Philip J. Currie Dinosaur
Museum was counting on money from the Building Canada Fund, which the province and region were
going to match. More/LIRE PLUS

Carleton gallery head comes full circle
Ottawa Citizen Share/Partager
Sandra Dyck came into the employ of the Carleton University Art Gallery 17 years ago, and her climb from
curatorial assistant to gallery director is now complete. The native of Chilliwack, B.C., finished her Masters
in Canadian art history at Carleton in 1995, and soon joined the gallery staff as a part-time assistant. She
moved through the ranks to curator, and recently took the final step to the top of the gallery hierarchy, when
the highly respected director Diana Nemiroff retired. More/LIRE PLUS

Le Musée du Bronze partenaire du Festival d'art érotique de Montréal
Courrier Frontenac Share/Partager
More/LIRE PLUS

Museum unveils new exhibit on National Parks Day
Cottage Country Now Share/Partager
Muskoka Heritage Place has a brand new exhibit that officially opened on National Parks Day. Ron
Gostlin, manager of Muskoka Heritage Place, welcomed the roughly 20 people who attended the opening
of Parks 101: A celebration of federal, provincial and municipal parks recently in the heritage village's
museum. More/LIRE PLUS

Cumberland council wants museum open on Sundays
Comox Valley Echo Share/Partager
Cumberland Council and the Coal Creek Historic society are putting pressure on the Cumberland Museum
and Archives to open their doors Sundays for the rest of the summer, but the museum says it simply
doesn't have the money to do so. Historically, the museum has been open seven days a week during the
summertime, but funding cutbacks lead to the decision to close one day a week. The museum chose to
close Sunday, a decision some say is hurting business and the ability of tourists to access the facility.

Darth Vader, our new post-pop-cultural darling
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
Better Mistakes, the new exhibition by Quebec City-based post-pop collective BGL, is the summer show
that fans been waiting for - fun, smart, lighthearted and bursting with imagination and colour. Filling the
Diaz Contemporary main space with everything from hanging chairs to bead curtains to intentionally
dreadful, peeling paintings, BGL invites viewers to engage with art on a visceral, even child-like level, to set
aside hidebound expectations of high culture vs. low culture (a distinction nobody except book reviewers
really believes in any more). More/LIRE PLUS
