For one beautiful summer evening in the heart of downtown Vernon, Cenotaph
Park was transformed into a venue to celebrate arts and culture in the North
Okanagan. The Vernon Public Art Gallery hosted the 26th annual Midsummer's
Eve of the Arts (MEA) garden party and art auction benefit event. With
approximately 250 guests, 60 volunteers, almost 30 supporting businesses,
featuring over 100 auction items by local artists and companies, the event
became a magical evening for visual arts in Vernon.

 

"We are extremely pleased with the outstanding quality of artwork donated to
MEA this year. A special thanks goes out to the artists who support this
event by donating their work and attending with friends and family. We'd
also like to thank local businesses such as our Title Sponsor Predator Ridge
who at events such as this, show their support for growth and development of
cultural amenities in our community. And of course we wish to also share our
gratitude to Sharon McCoubrey, our emcee for the night, who spoke on behalf
of the Gallery." said Executive Director Dauna Kennedy Grant.

 

The Vernon Public Art Gallery, its Board of Directors and staff members
would like to thank all of our guests, artists, sponsors, donors, supporting
businesses and volunteers for making the 2012 Midsummer's Eve of the Arts a
great success. 

 

Event Sponsors Speedpro Signs and Nor-val Event Rentals once again donated
remarkable services. Appetizers from The Fig Catering and Itty Bitty
Catering Company were delicious, Okanagan Spirits, Gray Monk Estate Winery,
Okanagan Spring Brewery and Starbucks Coffee Company provided refreshing
summer beverages, Zentangle performed unique live music, and Word Champion
auctioneers Peter Raffin and Rod Burnett of Valley Auction gave outstanding
art auction entertainment. The weather was perfect, our many guests enjoyed
the park setting and there were many smiling faces all in support of the
Vernon Public Art Gallery. Not to forget the main purpose for the event!
$28,000 was raised at the 2012 MEA. The money raised each year at this
important fundraiser directly employs the front end staff and contributes to
Gallery exhibitions and programming, while also raising support for the new
facility.
