Temporary Employment Position:   Museum Programs Coordinator /Collections Assistant

The Penticton Museum is seeking a temporary (6 month), part-time (28 hrs/wk) position as Museum Program coordinator and Collections assistant.



The successful candidate's prime responsibilities will be to:

1) Prepare and deliver programs and events for families and children highlighting the natural and human history of the Penticton area.

2) Prepare and deliver in-house programs and events for K - 10 classes in the local school district.

3) Assist the curator with inventorying and cataloguing of museum's artifact collection; including entering the information into an electronic database.

4) Coordinate the museum's ongoing social media and website program.



Qualifications : Eligible candidates should have:

- Experience and/or education working with children and youth

- Experience working with social media and web development platforms

- Strong interpersonal and presentation communication skills

- Strong organizational and clerical skills

- Ability to work independently in physically challenging settings, including the outdoors.



Additional requirements:

- A valid BC drivers' license and clean driving record

-  Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Photoshop and MS Publisher

- University graduates with Museum, History, Archaeology, Environment  or  Education backgrounds.



Employment  Details:

As this position involves working with children, a background criminal records check will be required.

Contract period : 20th June 2012 - December 21st 2012 (with possibility of extended contract in 2013 based on funding) for 28 hours per week from Tuesday - Saturday. Rate of pay: $12.50ph - $15ph depending on education and experience.
