Chinese Legacies: Port Moody museum documents history
Tri-City News Share/Partager
Port Moody was the original Asia gateway for migrant laborers and now a new museum exhibit will tell their
story. The PoMo Station Museum is hosting the exhibit Chinese Legacies: Building the Canadian Pacific
Railway in B.C. so people understand the contributions of Chinese workers to Canadian history. Most
people associate Chinese labourers with bigger cities, such as Vancouver, Victoria and even New
Westminster, where large ghettos of mostly male migrant workers lived. But , according to museum
manager Jim Millar. More/LIRE PLUS

Trois expositions se rejoignent au Musée régional de Rimouski
Journal L'Avantage Share/Partager
More/LIRE PLUS

O'Leary museum rebranded as Canadian Potato Museum
The Journal Pioneer Share/Partager
A panel just inside the main doors of the Canadian Potato Museum in O'Leary points out that this country
ranks somewhere around 12th or 13th in world potato production. China and Russia rank first and second
respectively, producing as many spuds as the next eight countries combined. More/LIRE PLUS

Korean War vet's art a tribute to 'forgotten war'
Postmedia News Share/Partager
Sixty years after shipping off to Asia to fight in Canada's "forgotten war," the dwindling ranks of veterans
from the Korean Conflict are raising funds for a planned artistic tribute to their 1950s battle against
communism - a monumental painting to be created, poignantly, by a renowned artist who also hap-pens
to have served there. More/LIRE PLUS

Lancaster bomber back on duty next week
Hamilton Spectator Share/Partager
A familiar war bird will soon be back in the sky. The Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum's Avro
Lancaster is expected to roll down the runway at the John C. Munro-Hamilton International Airport early
next week, weather permitting, on its first test flight since a wing tip issue grounded the Second World War
bomber in April. The Lanc has been grounded since April 17 when the lower bracket on the right wing tip
came lose while on the first training flight of the season near Dunnville. More/LIRE PLUS

Canada's Wonderland plays host to Dinosaurs Alive!
Exhibit Wired Share/Partager
Dinosaurs Alive! is staged by Dinosaurs Unearthed, the same company that was at the Toronto Zoo five
years ago. The two main differences are that there were quite a few more of the animatronic dinos on
exhibit at Wonderland (26 different species and in many cases there were multiples of each) and the exhibit
was set up outdoors instead of in a dome, as it was at the zoo. More/LIRE PLUS
