Since exhibitions are the public face of your museum they should inspire powerful visitor experiences that convey your institution's mission and philosophy. This intensive course examines planning, designing, fabricating, and installing interpretive exhibitions that encourage museum visitor's understanding, participation, and emotional engagement. Field work, team development and presentation of an exhibition design proposal, and layout of a showcase with an interactive element provide you with opportunities to build exhibition planning and design skills.
Through this course in exhibition design and installation, you will:
* Become familiar with the history, background, and roles of interpretive planning in museum exhibitions.
* Understand the complex design considerations that go into developing an engaging visitor experience in interpretive exhibitions.
* Obtain practical knowledge of the exhibition design process by completing team based projects and an individual design proposal.
* Expand your knowledge of design approaches, interpretation, techniques and appropriate uses of technology as they apply to exhibitions.
