Book Launch for Local Historian Jan Peterson at the Nanaimo Museum

Local historian Jan Peterson is launching her new book, Kilts on the
Coast, at the Nanaimo Museum.  The book launch and signing will take
place on Saturday, March 31 from 1pm - 4pm.  Peterson is well-known
locally for her book series on Nanaimo's history.  .  Shortly after 1:00
pm, Jan Peterson will give a brief talk on her book and will be
available for the remainder of the launch to sign books and answer
questions.  Cake and light refreshments will also be served.

Jan Peterson's much anticipated new book, Kilts on the Coast:  The Scots
Who Built BC focuses on the Scottish people who helped shape early
settlement growth on Vancouver Island from 1848-1854.  "The Nanaimo
Museum is pleased to be the venue for launching Kilts on the Coast,"
says Aimee Greenaway, Program & Volunteer Coordinator at the Museum.
"The book paints a picture of life for Scottish families in Nanaimo over
150 years ago."  "Kilts on the Coast highlights famous figures in BC's
past like Governor James Douglas and members of society in Victoria,
and, also features coal miners and Hudson's Bay Company traders.

Peterson has a personal connection for writing about Scottish
immigration as she was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada when
she was 20 years old.
