The Maritime Museum of BC turns 57!

Who would have ever thought that what started out as a small naval museum 57 years ago would become Victoria's very own Maritime Museum? Throughout these many years, it has ebbed and flowed with the changing tides. Today, it is a vibrant and exciting place to visit.

Help celebrate this milestone. Join the voyage Saturday, March 31st as the museum offers $5.57 admission all day long. Remember, up to two children 12 and under accompanied by an adult are now always free at the Maritime Museum. Participate in family activities, tours and crafts, or explore the museum's floors full of BC's maritime adventures.

"This museum is an important link to Victoria's community and our past," says Membership & Development Coordinator Gaylia Lassner. "We recently welcomed a mother and her two young children who had come to visit our Museum to learn more about Canada's Navy.  As the mother so touchingly said, "My husband is at sea many months at a time.  I need this Museum to show my children that their father is a part of something important, and when he is away from us it is because his work is critical to our community and country."

"By celebrating our 57th Anniversary with the community," continues Lassner, "and offering a reduced admission, we are hoping to reach out to everyone and inspire those who visit to become members."

The 57th Anniversary also launches the Maritime Museum's Membership drive. Purchase a membership on March 31st and receive two free passes, in addition to all the other valuable benefits offered with a Maritime Museum of BC Membership.
