"Heirloom Discovery Day", Gallery Hosts Art and Antique Appraisal

Let the experts unveil the mystery and reveal if you own a trinket or
treasure!

 

Back by popular demand, the Vernon Public Art Gallery will once again host
an "Heirloom Discovery Day" on Friday May 11, 2012, with special guests
Peter Blundell of Blundell Art and Antique Appraisals, of Vernon, BC, and
Anthony Westbridge of Westbridge Fine Art and Auction House, of Vancouver,
BC. Blundell and Westbridge previously completed a Discovery Day at the
Gallery in October, 2011, with great success. Several pieces were sold at
auction following discoveries made at the Vernon Public Art Gallery event.

 

Westbridge will be performing Verbal Opinions of Market Value on original
art with the possibility of taking some paintings back to Vancouver for
inclusion in one of his monthly live and online auctions. Westbridge is one
of Canada's leading art experts.  He is a long time publisher of
"Collector's Dictionary of Canadian Artists at Auction", and the "Canadian
Art Sales Index", published for the last 30 years. Westbridge assesses a
wide variety of art and is particularly interested in Canadian art and
sculpture. He is looking forward to visiting the Okanagan with hopes a rare,
unique, or highly sought after piece of art. Some of the Westbridge books
will also be available for purchase at the event.

 

Blundell will also be performing Verbal Opinions of Market Value on antiques
and collectibles, with some exceptions. He cannot appraise jewelry, coins,
stamps, guns, and wristwatches.  However, pocket watches and swords may be
brought in. Individuals who wish to have large furniture pieces assessed are
asked to bring in a portion of the piece, such as a drawer along with a
photograph, and the item's measurements. (Items thought to be over four
hundred years old cannot be assessed in this format.) 

 

Fifteen minute assessments will be scheduled from 10:00am - 5:00pm at the
Gallery. The fee for an appointment is $35.00 (+ HST) for a maximum of three
items. Partial proceeds benefit exhibitions and programming at the Vernon
Public Art Gallery. Auditors are welcome at no additional charge.
