*Tour Victoria's Royal B.C. Museum's latest*
*dinosaur exhibit*

New ideas about ancient dinosaurs are on display at the Royal B.C.
Museum, breathing life into our imaginings of how these extinct
creatures moved and lived.
Opening Thursday, the exhibit from the prestigious American Museum of
Natural History in New York offers more than just peeks at re-assembled
skeletons.
It also has footprints, various fossils and computer-generated visions
of moving dinosaurs.
Of notable importance is a steel and aluminum reconstruction of a
long-necked dinosaur's skeleton. It's a good demonstration of how
paleontologists, using biomechanics, have inferred some dramatic new
ideas about dinosaur posture and movement.
But for U.S. paleontologist Matt Smith, travelling with the exhibit, the
real eye-pleaser is the reconstructed, prehistoric forest. Complete with
plants and creatures, many with fur and feathers, it's a wrap- around
window into prehistory.
"It's really beautiful, the model, the lighting," said Smith. "And with
the soundtrack it is a really immersive experience."
