Have you been involved in an innovative local history project? Canada's History wants to hear from you!
Canada's History is accepting applications for the 2012 Governor General's History Award for Excellence in Community Programming. Two awards, English and French, will recognize projects that promote and encourage community engagement in local history.
Recipients will win a trip to Ottawa, where they will receive their award from His Excellency the Right Honourable David Johnston during a once-in-a-lifetime ceremony at Rideau Hall. A cash prize of $2,500 is also awarded to be put towards their project.
Applications can be completed online at CanadasHistory.ca/Awards/Community-Programming<http://www.canadashistory.ca/Awards/Community-Programming.aspx>
You can also nominate a project by using the online nomination form<http://www.canadashistory.ca/Awards/Community-Programming/Nominate-Community-Project.aspx> (nominees will be contacted to complete the application).
The deadline for completed applications is August 14, 2012.
