Montreal artworks damaged by flooding after downpour
CBC Share/Partager
Hundreds of works of rare art have been damaged at one of Montreal's main museums by heavy rains that
battered the city, flooding basements and overwhelming the city's aging infrastructure. One hard-hit area
was Montreal's downtown, including the Place des Arts complex, where the museum is located. More/LIRE

Parce que les murs n'ont pas seulement des oreilles, ils parlent. Pour leur tirer des confidences, Catherine
Lachaussée assure l'animation de la série, secondée par l'architecte bien connu Pierre Thibault,
«coolement philosophe», selon l'animatrice. Huit demi-heures à contempler, entièrement produites à
Québec chez Productions VF, et diffusées localement dans la case occupée jusqu'ici par Vie de quartier.

Musée puts focus on frontier photographers
St. Albert Leader Share/Partager
A new exhibit of photos at the Musée Heritage Museum says as much about the photographers as it does
about the subjects of the photos, according to the museum's curator. The exhibit In Focus: Photographing
the Alberta and Montana Frontier 1870-1930 is on loan from the Glenbow Museum in Calgary and opened
on Tuesday, and features photos of ranchers, First Nations people and the North West Mounted Police who
arrived to bring law and order to the territory. More/LIRE PLUS
RCMP investigating N.B. art theft
CBC Share/Partager
RCMP said in a press release Wednesday they are investigating the May 14 painting theft from an artist in
Grand-Barachois, N.B. Celebrated Acadian painter Roméo Savoie said a man posing as a University of
Moncton professor visited his studio two weeks ago and said he was interested in buying one of the artist's
paintings. More/LIRE PLUS

Lighthouse petitions are in
The Telegram Share/Partager
While not all petitions expected from Newfoundland and Labrador have been processed, it appears there
will be plenty of local lighthouses in the running to receive a heritage designation under the Heritage
Lighthouse Protection Act. More/LIRE PLUS
Canada should share its resource wealth
The Vancouver Sun Share/Partager
It seems everyone has advice on how Western Canada should manage its resources. NDP leader Thomas
Mulcair blames the oilsands for "Dutch disease," the notion that high resource prices cause a hollowing out
of manufacturing. It's a largely mistaken claim, given that manufacturing in Western economies has been
under pressure from more competitive emerging economies for some time. Nevertheless, Mulcair would
slow down the energy sector by adding a carbon tax (though he'll skip the same as applied to the
automotive industry). More/LIRE PLUS
>From tea and pastries to whale meat buffets, Canada's Diamond Jubilee celebrations
CBC Share/Partager
When Canadians mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this year, they'll be doing more than sipping tea and
savouring sweet pastries. For sure, enjoying a cup of Earl Grey will be part of some community
celebrations to honour Elizabeth's six decades on the throne. But some events are scheduled to offer more
diverse local fare - such as whale and reindeer meat - and to give Canadians the chance to do
everything from making their own fascinator hats to appreciating art that reflects the country's cultural
heritage. More/LIRE PLUS
