*MARITIME MUSEUM OFFERS FREE THURSDAY NIGHTS*

*Vancouver Maritime Museum is opening its doors to the public every
Thursday evening until December 13th, 5pm–8pm… FREE of charge!*



VANCOUVER, BC (NOVEMBER, 2012) –– Darkness comes early these days, and the
temptation to cozy down in front of the TV and wait for spring increases in
direct relation to the shortening of each day. To combat those early winter
blues, the Vancouver Maritime Museum is staying open late for the next 5
Thursdays, and admission is free. If you have never been to VMM or haven’t
been in awhile, now is the perfect chance to come by and explore.



VMM is staying open late each Thursday until December 13th, and as a part
of the museum’s current exhibit *LURED-* there will be talks, activities,
and much to see.



ABOUT THE EXHIBIT

LURED- presents the work of renowned contemporary artists *Stan
Douglas*, *Uriel
Orlow* and *Allan Sekula* alongside Vancouver Maritime Museum objects and
archival material. Together they provide unique perspectives on the
maritime shipping industry –– its origins, consumer desire and the risks
taken by the ‘invisible’ seafarers who work to meet those demands. LURED is
a collaborative exhibit between the *Vancouver Maritime Museum* and
the *Charles
H. Scott Gallery, Emily Carr University of Art and Design.*
