Glooscap centre plans to carry on
Chronicle Herald Share/Partager
Concerns about the Glooscap Heritage Centre's involvement with a tax shelter should eventually be
resolved but for now it is business as usual, says the museum's executive director. The Glooscap Heritage
Society, which operates the Mi'kmaq museum, had its registered charity status yanked by the Canada
Revenue Agency after an audit of operations. The Truro-area facility is functioning as a non-profit
organization in the meantime, said Joyce Mingo. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS
Calgary artist Jason de Haan's innovative work shortlisted for Sobey Art Award
Calgary Herald Share/Partager
Jason de Haan might be the toast of the Canadian art world, but that doesn´t make it any easier for the
Calgary artist to find studio space. The 31-year-old multidisciplinary artist, a graduate of the Alberta College
of Art and Design, is one five artists shortlisted for the 2013 Sobey Art Award - think Giller Prize for visual
artists under 40 - and as a result, is being chased down by a reporter for a story. More/LIRE PLUS

QMI Agency Share/Partager
Chatham native Ryan Noth is getting great exposure for his latest film, despite the fact it's only a minute
long. The 34-year filmmaker, along with partner Tess Girard, who operate Fifth Town Films production

Sobey Art Award a celebration of young artists
Toronto Star Share/Partager
There is little doubt that the Sobey Art Award is the most important award granted to young visual artists in
Canada, and not just because it offers $50,000 to the winner and $5,000 to the four other finalists. The
Award, which is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, brings some of the country's most ambitious
young talent to the attention of both Canadian and international art lovers, curators, critics, and, yes,
collectors. More/LIRE PLUS
Heritage Canada exhibit brings the conflict to life
The Province Share/Partager
The Heritage Canada Foundation is bringing the War of 1812 story to Canadians with a special exhibit in
Vancouver. More than 20,000 people have visited a $950,000 exhibit at Canada Place since it opened in
June. The free show will run until March 2014. There is a huge mural showing sailing ships, replica cannon,
interactive computer screens, authentic flintlock muskets and informative guides dressed in the red and
white of the volunteer militia who fought for their farms. More/LIRE PLUS
Deadline extended for those interested in buying Eamon's Camp
Calgary Herald Share
There's hope yet for fans of a vacant retro garage that it may see a second life after all. While there are no
formal takers vying for ownership of Eamon's Bungalow Camp garage, a few emails received by the
Calgary Heritage Authority show there could be some interest brewing. More
