Cold War sub leaves Hamilton on last journey
CBC News Share/Partager
The HMCS Ojibwa is the last of Canada's Oberon-class submarines and a relic from the Cold War, when
the West and the Soviet Union were each other's greatest adversaries. The antique sub was getting a
makeover before heading to a new naval museum in Port Burwell, ON. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

A reply to critics of the Art Gallery of Ontario's Frida Kahlo unibrow promotion
ARTINFO Canada Share/Partager
The following open letter by art critic Sholem Krishtalka was published by ARTINFO Canada. Dear letter-
writers to the Art Gallery of Ontario, My Facebook feed has lately been playing host to an increased
number of your open letters. These letters have all been attempting to take the AGO to task for their latest
marketing gimmick. More/LIRE PLUS

More/LIRE PLUS

The truth about voodoo
Ottawa Citizen Share/Partager
You can't blame Hollywood for the things you think you know about voodoo. Hollywood, with help from
other overly imaginative corners, may serve up a pop-culture stereotype of the 'primitive' religion, but they
can't make you believe it. They can't put a spell on you, as much as they want you to believe that spells -
preferably evil spells - are what voodoo is all about. "This is why this is a perfect subject for an
educational institution," says Mauro Peressini, the co-curator of the new exhibition of voodoo at the
Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau. More/LIRE PLUS

Martin Knelman: Canadian Museum of Human Rights in Winnipeg
Toronto Star Share/Partager
Even before they started to build it, the Canadian Museum for Human Rights aspired to reach for the stars.
And now, after several years of funding problems, bitter controversy over its contents, and an unsettling
number of departures by senior managers and its first board chair, the museum's fortunes have taken a
striking turn for the better. More/LIRE PLUS

WWII letter returns home after more than 60 years in a museum
CTV News Share/Partager
A letter written to a Canadian soldier who fought and died during the Second World War has returned
home. Peterborough resident Linda Dodson was notified a few days ago that the Canadian military would
deliver a letter to her that was found on the body of her mother's first husband, Pte. George Lye Lamkie.

2 artistic studies in reticence share unexpected resonances
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
A few weeks ago in Vancouver, I had one of those 'everything old is new again' moments. I was standing
in front of a 1933 work by David Milne at Heffel auction house on South Granville street. The picture -
which will be sold in Toronto this Thursday night, and which was first acquired by Vincent Massey in 1934
- was small and it depicted an empty canvas propped on its easel, a box of paints and what looks like a
rocky outcropping overhanging a dark pool. More/LIRE PLUS
