I am assisting with the establishment of a national WW1 centennial
commemoration committee, and am in charge of getting things started in
Western Canada.  So far I mostly have participation from Alberta, but I
would like broader participation.  Would you be able to distribute the
attached information to your members?  Anyone who is interested is most
welcome to call the conference call line.

Hello All -

As indicated at the AMA conference in September and by main-L in October, we
are trying to establish a coordination committee for institutions launching
exhibits, events, or other forms of commemoration in conjunction with the
WW1 centennial from 2014-2018.  You have all indicated to me that you are
potentially interested in participating in this committee, or at least
keeping informed on our activities.  My apologies for taking so long to set
up the first meeting, but Remembrance Day has been the focus here up until
recently.  

We would like to hold the first meeting here at The Military Museums in our
boardroom at 10:30 on Tuesday December 4.

I suspect many of you may not be able to make it to Calgary for this
meeting, so I have set up a conference call line for you to call in to:

Agenda is as attached - if you think we should discuss any other items,
please let me know and I'll be happy to add them.

Note that this meeting follows on the first meeting of the national
coordination committee in Ontario in the summer at the Guelph Civic Museum
led by Tim Gillies.  Minutes for that meeting and contact information for
attendees is per attached.  As a follow-on to that meeting, I was asked to
"rally the troops" here in Western Canada.  This is a beginning for that.
Preliminarily we are calling the committee The Canada Great War Centennial
Committee.

I have attached information on a traveling exhibit on Sir Arthur Currie that
came out of the first meeting, as well as a link on another traveling

I have also included information on a potential funding source - CEF 100.

Finally, I have attached a summary on our own exhibit tentatively entitled
"Alberta's Great War" which will not travel, but will give you an idea of
what we are doing.  This exhibit will run from August 2014 to December 2014
(tentative).  If anyone else has information on their plans, feel free to
respond to the group as a whole with that information.  Otherwise we can
discuss with the group next week.
