Windsor art gallery proposed as new home for museum
Windsor Star Share/Partager
A consultant's report recommends spending up to $3.3 million to create a new community museum on the
ground floor of the Art Gallery of Windsor. But such a plan would mean city council either has to scrap its
agreement with the Windsor Library Board to move the central branch currently on Ouellette Avenue to that
location, expand the existing building or build a new library in the vicinity as part of a downtown 'cultural
cluster,' according to the report by Lord Cultural Resources. More/LIRE PLUS
Glenbow Museum's monsters exhibit channels 'the spirit of Frankenstein'
Calgary Herald Share/Partager
Before Pixar ever got their hands on them and turned them into friendly wisecracking stuffies, we had
monsters in our culture. That's because monsters were our way of explaining our irrational selves to our
selves, says Mark Scala, the Tennessee-based curator of Fairy Tales, Monsters and the Genetic
Imagination. More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE PLUS
Toronto's Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art is on the move
The Globe and Mail Share/Partager
The Museum of Contemporary Canadian Art is moving. Moving physically, and moving too - or so it hopes
- into an era of greatness. But just where it's moving, and how, remain vexing questions. Formerly known
as the Art Gallery of North York, MoCCA since January, 2005, has been renting a 990-square-metre
repurposed textile factory on Toronto's Queen Street West near the achingly hip Ossington strip.

Outdoor museum to celebrate Edmonton's neon past
CBC News Share/Partager
A museum celebrating Edmonton's neon past will soon be lighting up a downtown street corner. "Hopefully,
it'll become one of those little spots that if you're in Edmonton, go down and look at the neon sign museum,"
said David Holdsworth, a city planner who came up with the idea. More/LIRE PLUS

Northern landscapes focus of art exhibition
Timmins Press Share/Partager
Walking into the Red Room of the Timmins Museum: National Exhibition Centre, the bright colours of the
paintings hanging on the wall immediately catch the eye. But after spending a few minutes looking at a few
of the two dozen or so works of art on display, it's clear these compositions are meant to evoke thought
rather than to grab attention. More/LIRE PLUS
More/LIRE PLUS
Moore brings mixed media exhibit to Moose Jaw
Moose Jaw Times Herald Share/Partager
Prince Albert artist Tim Moore is in Moose Jaw for the opening of his exhibit Hybrid, and to work with the
community during Culture Days. Moore's art explores the Canadian condition, and Métis and mix-raced
identity. In the past, Moore painted solely landscapes and still life. This exhibit is his first real attempt at
stepping outside of those genres. More/LIRE PLUS

L'Étoile Share/Partager

Plans announced for new art museum in Whistler
Whistler Question Share/Partager
One of Canada's most significant private art collections will be making its way to Whistler, and will be
housed in a brand new world-class museum in the Village. Mayor Nancy Wilhelm-Morden made the
announcement that the Resort Municipality of Whistler (RMOW) has been in talks with private collector and
real estate magnate Michael Audain to house his expansive collection of notable indigenous and
contemporary West Coast art, including a large number of paintings by Emily Carr and E.J. Hughes.
